Steve Jean Baptiste: Blacks on Wall Street Testimonial

Years ago I attended a Blacks on Wall Street event as a struggling young professional looking for opportunities. With little to no exposure, my scope was limited in regard to prominent career paths. With open arms the BoWS staff took me in as if I was family. They mentored me, educated me and provided endless opportunities. From allowing me to shadow them at work, taking me to the New York Stock Exchange, inviting me to Ivy League networking events, placing me in cybersecurity trainings and last but not least appointing me to the new sub division “Jr Blacks on Wall Street” as the first member. Today I am a well versed technical professional now embarking on a career in cybersecurity with the guidance of BoWS. I now have opportunities in fields I did not know existed. To be mentored by leaders in the industry is truly something I do not take for granted and I plan to do the same for the generation coming behind me.

I owe much of my success to Blacks on Wall Street. The level of exposure I continuously get from this esteemed organization is a direct correlation to my career development. I hope my testimony can inspire others to take control of their lives and strive for more when given the opportunity. That is what Blacks on Wall Street continues to do and I look forward to my role in helping that cause.
